The 2017 Lincoln Continental is the upcoming upgrade of the Continental, the well-known luxury sedan from Lincoln. It is the newest in a series of redesigned or new models of Lincoln, such as Navigator, MKC, MKZ and MKX. The CD4 platform forms the basis of the vehicle, which comes just as a year after the 10th generation of Continental was officially presented at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show. It will be produced in Michigan, at the Flat Rock Assembly Plant of Ford.
2017 Lincoln Continental design
The vehicle will be based a lot on the concept version, and have the same elegant stance and subtle design of the latter. There will be small alterations over the front bumper, consisting of a slightly revised grille and headlights. The most change will be noticed in the bumper, and there would be bigger openings instead of the narrower air vents. The sedan will have different tail lamps, which would be quite larger and consist of a fresh cluster layout. Signature LED head- and tail-lights will improve visibility for riders. Use of power-cinching technology will help the doors to open and close easily with a button touch and also shut close securely and automatically.
The 2017 Lincoln Continental internal cabin will be a bit toned down than the cockpit of its concept version, but more welcoming and lighter in color. Real wood will be used in the dash and central console of the car, ditching the huge amount of chrome. Its seats, as well as the instrument panel and the console, would be covered in real leather. The seats will be 30-way adjustable, and come with cooling, heating and massage features. The whole interior can be updated with fresh Black Label designer themes from Lincoln if desired. Laminated glass and all-new Active Noise Control feature will reduce vibration and noise.
New Lincoln Continental 2017 specs and price
The car will come with a V6, 3.0-liter twin turbocharged engine under its hood. This exclusive engine is slated to offer as much power as 400 hp and as much torque as 400 pounds per foot. The 2017 Lincoln Continental powertrain promises to be responsive, noiseless and smooth. It is expected to be paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission gearbox, which would be capable of driving power to both the front and the rear wheels. It will be equipped with Lincoln Drive Control feature which enables driver to choose between three driving modes: comfort, normal and sport. Depending on chosen mode it adapts ride and handling through steering and suspension settings.
