Subaru presented to us the new trim level of the new 2017 Subaru Outback that we couldn’t see with previous year model. The new Outback Touring model comes with new Java Brown interior and some new safety features. As we said before, we didn’t expect big changes because Subaru unveiled all new 2015 Outback couple years ago.
What we can expect with 3th model year?
Touring model of Subaru comes with same engine options as before with slightly changes on its design. That will keep the car more modest and tough. Based on rumors, the manufacturer will present other models of the facelifted Subaru Outback 2017 in second half of 2016. The Chevy Equinox, Honda CRV, Toyota Venza, Ford Edge and Nissan Murano could be other choices for people that want to buy crossover this summer.
2017 Subaru Outback changes
At the outer part of the car, the new 2017 Outback will come with slightly modifications. Just like its predecessor it will be available in four trim levels: Standard, Premium, Limited and all-new Touring. All models comes with an aluminum hood for reduced weight on the front. The new Subaru’s crossover SUV comes standard with 17-inch alloy wheels while Limited and Touring models come with 18-inch alloy wheels. Sharpen look will be created by fact the front bumper and hexagonal grille are one smooth piece. It will also inherit aluminum hood which will improve steering response. It will come with standard LED headlights and daytime running lights while higher trim levels will have an excellent HID low-beam headlight for better nighttime driving.
At the rear end of the car we expect same features as before: strong horizontal line between taillights and caved bumper with integrated foglights. Sporty appearance is contributed by a spoiler placed above the rear glass, while roofrails are optional for all models. Looking from the side, you will be able to notice high roof and high ground clearance which give the new 2017 Outback unusual look comparing to other wagons. We expect that its dimensions will remain the same.

The all-new 2017 Subaru Outback Touring features 18-in. wheels with dark gray accents and dark gray grille. Its unique style is underlined by the low-profile roof rails with silver finish. When it comes to safety features it comes with Reverse Automatic Braking which helps to the driver, when he moves car in reverse, to avoid accident. Ultrasonic sonar sensors integrated in the rear bumper cover send signal to this system and it automatically stops the car. Standard for this trim level is EyeSight Driver Assist Technology and in combination with Rear Cross Traffic, Blind Spot Detection and High Beam Assist feature it switch the headlights automatically from high to low settings when an approaching vehicle is detected. Compared to previous year model the new Subaru Touring has one color more to chose: Brilliant Brown.
Subaru Outback 2017 interior
Inside the cabin of the new Subaru Outback 2017, you will find a nice design with high-quality materials for more premium feel. This car uses premium quality soft-touch materials only. Most of the interior features will be borrowed from Subaru Legacy. Behind the steering wheel you will find sporty instrument panel with two analog-look gauges. At the central stack you will find standard 3.5-inch LCD information display which can be replaced with 5-in. display when it is equipped with EyeSight driver-assist system. Interior is also equipped with small display panel for heater control with exterior air temperature information and digital clock.
Needless to say, you will also get amazing 6.2 infotainment system so you won’t get bored during the ride. It provides Radio Data Broadcast System, HD Radio and AM/FM stereo, Subaru Starlink smartphone integration, iHeart Radio and Pandora Radio, rear vision camera, iPod and USB connectivity and Bluetooth phone hands-free connectivity and audio streaming.
In the terms of safety, you will get advanced airbags and other security systems. It will be equipped with Subarus’ StarLink Safety Plus system, Subaru’s Eyesight system with three cameras, Lane keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring with rear cross traffic alert.
With new Brilliant Brown exterior color, the 2017 Subaru Outback Touring comes with Java Brown leather upholstery, armrest and door panels with contrasting ivory stitching. Standard for Touring trim is a heated steering wheel and it also comes with the Starling 7.0” Multimedia Navigation system with voice-activated controls. For buyers of this model there are 3 years of subscription to SiriusXM Travel Link, SiriusXM Traffic, SiriusXM All Access audio service and 3-year of complimentary updates of maps. There is also StarLink Safety Plus package which features SOS Emergency Assistance, Automatic Collision Notification, Enhanced Roadside Assistance, Maintenance Notifications, Diagnostic Alerts and Maintenance Vehicle Health.
2017 Subaru Outback turbo engine
Under the hood, you won’t get disappointed as the 2017 Subaru Outback will include a solid engine lineup. Base engine will be same 2.5-liter flat-4 with 175 horsepower and 174 lb-ft of torque. Optional powerplant will be 3.6-liter boxer-6 with 256 horses and over 240 lb-ft of torque. Just like all Subaru vehicles the 2017 Outback will come with all-wheel drive system. Both engines will be equipped with additional dynamic control features such as Vehicle Dynamics Control with electronic traction control, Hill Start Assist, Active Torque Vectoring and Hill Descent Control.

Both of these engines will be mated to Lineartronic CVT automatic transmission with 6-speed manual mode and paddle shifters mounted on steering wheel for manual shifting. When it comes to fuel economy it should be rated at 28 mpg for 4-cylinder engine and 22 mpg for combined driving and 6-cylinder powerplant. The 2017 Subaru Outback towing capacity should be same as before: 2,700 pounds for 2.5-liter and 3,000 pounds for 3.6-liter powerplant.
New Subaru Outback 2017 release date and price
The new Subaru Outback 2017 release date should be in second half of 2016 while it should have its official presentation in spring at one of the Auto Shows. The price hasn’t been published as well. Based on facts that it won’t get larger changes, the 2017 Subaru Outback price will start at around $25,000. Overall, you should pay more if you choose the better trim.
