The next generation of the Toyota’s Highlander may not have many changes, but it will still look different, attractive, and certainly better than the previous generations. The manufacturer used distinct design elements in order to make it look large and reliable. The front fascia is quite big. Combined with its catchy front grille and a chrome bar, the car looks more interesting. The Toyota logo on the upper part of the grille makes it easier for identification. New Toyota Highlander 2018

Under the hood, two engine options might be used in the new Toyota Highlander 2018. The first one is 4-cylinder 2.7-liter engine and this type will offer you about 185 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. The ability of this engine is to accelerate 0 to 60 mph in only 7.3 seconds. Models with this engine come mated to 6-speed automatic transmission and they have fuel economy rated around 22 mpg of combined drive.

Second engine option is 3.5-liter V6 engine and this one is a bit more powerful than the first type. It can produce 263 lb-ft of torque and 295 horsepower. In addition, it also has a better acceleration, which is up to 120 mph in 8 seconds. Despite of their differences, they are equally amazing in performance. All highlanders with this engine come equipped with 8-speed automatic transmission with direct shift. Depending on chosen drivetrain its fuel consumption varies around 22 and 23 mpg. All models are available either with FWD or AWD drivetrain system.

Hybrid version of the car combines 3.5-liter V6 petrol engine with high-torque electric motor-generator. This combination produces 306 horsepower and with combination of electronically controlled CVT transmission, it comes with fuel economy rated around 29 mpg of combined driving. Highlander hybrid comes equipped with all-wheel-drive system with intelligence (AWD-i) and unlike other AWD systems, it has electric motor on the rear wheels in order to maintain optimal traction.

2018 Toyota Highlander release date and price

Although there is no official confirmation about the release date, there are already some speculations. It is predicted that 2018 Toyota Highlander will come out either in the late of 2017 or the early of 2018. What about price? We estimate that it will start from $32,000 for base LE model. However, additional equipment may exceed the number up to $55,000. Compared to its rivals, such as Honda Pilot, Ford Explorer and Nissan Pathfinder, prices of the Highlander models are in line with them.
