2018 VW Tiguan US – 7 passenger SUV


The 2018 VW Tiguan will be released with a redesigned look and it is expected to be about 10.7 inches longer than the outgoing Tiguan model. This long wheel base version will be introduced in European market as Tiguan Allspace and American market is waiting for the changed crossover with some extra space with a third row of seats. It promises to deliver a terrain based multi-mode selector for the fellows who love adventure. The new VW Tiguan 2018 Allspace was presented this January at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit.

Exterior

As mentioned the next gen Tiguan will be 10.7 inches longer than the older model. The dimensions will be in wheelbase 109.9 inches and in length 185.2 inches. The chassis of the crossover will be constructed with lightweight but durable materials. The C-pillar will also be different from the previous model. There will be larger lower air intake but the upper grille will be skinny. It will rule the roads with its 19” alloy wheels. The headlights will have LED trimmings and bright chrome lights that will spruce up the appearance of the vehicle along with illuminating the roads.

Tallish ground clearance, black plastic fender flares are features that will make this vehicle look attractive. The upper and lower section will be separated by a strong character line that will run through its length. The door handles will be incorporated at the character line along with the top of the tail lights. This classic design will be far for classic for its lovers. It is available in eight exterior colors: Pure White, White Silver Metallic, Platinum Gray Metallic, Deep Black Pearl, Silk Blue Metallic, Dark Moss Green Metallic, Habanero Orange Metallic and Cardinal Red Metallic.

Interior

The interior of the 2018 model of Tiguan will have angular instrument panel design that will include digital gauge cluster, next-generation infotainment system and a flat bottom steering wheel. The lower trim level of the wheels is expected to have analog gauges along with a head-up display. The extra length and the third row seats are the new addition and of course there will be no compromise in the leg room of the second row. The cargo space is expected to be 58.5 cubic feet. There will be 60/40 split in the second row and a 50/50 split in the third row. The total seating arrangements will be for seven passengers.

Other features will include GPS navigation, Android auto, USB and 12 port power ports, dual-zone climate control; of course it will be automatic. It will include all active safety features. There will be seven airbags with driver knee airbag. It will also come with complete driver assistance. For improved safety there are plenty of assistance features, such as Forward Collision Warning, Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Traffic Alert, Autonomus Emergency Braking and Lane Departure Warning.

This forthcoming 7-passengers SUV from Volkswagen will be powered by turbocharged 2.0 liter TSI inline and direct injection engine. It can accommodate up to 184 HP @ 5100 rpm and 221 lb-ft of torque @ 1700 rpm. Over the front wheels there will be 8 speed automatic systems that will route the power to the front wheels. The EPA rates for this vehicle are not yet provided. For the four modes there will be 4Motion with Active Control AWD system with four drive modes: On-Road, Snow, Off-Road and for max traction there is Off-Road Custom.

It is expected that the 2018 VW Tiguan will be released during fall of 2017. As the official pricing information is yet to be announced by the manufacturers, the lovers of this car will have to wait a little longer to know about the prices. We expect that it will start around $30,000 for base model and goes up to $37,000 for fully loaded model. Main competitors of the new VW Tiguan 2018 will be Honda CRV, Toyota RAV4 and Ford Escape.
