For instance, it received a five-star rating in almost every category from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) outdoing most cars in the same range. In fact, since NHTSA updated their crash testing in 2011, the Model 3 showed the best results out of all the cars tested. Tesla claims that the Model 3 has the lowest chances of injury out of all the cars tested by NHTSA.
Tesla Model 3 has a lot of safety features to help the user avoid getting into accidents even when using Enhanced Autopilot. Most of these safety features are upgradable making the car safer even after some time of use. According to Tesla’s Vehicle Safety Report, the average car is 3.6 times more likely to get involved in an accident than a Tesla car. Interestingly, Tesla also claims that other cars are 6.7 times more likely to get in an accident than a Tesla car in an Autopilot mode. Some of the safety features in the Tesla Model 3 include;
- i. the electronic stability and traction control
- ii. anti-lock braking system
- iii. Automatic emergency braking
- iv. Collision avoidance
- v. Blind spot sensor
- vi. Lane departure warning
- vii. Parking assistance
- viii. Speed limit warning
- ix. Tracking system
Research has shown that cars that use fossil fuel cause premature death because of the emission of greenhouse gases. For instance, smoking cigarettes is blamed for lung cancer. As mentioned above, the Tesla Model 3 is an all-electric car. This is meant to minimize carbon emission even when operating on rough roads.
2019 Tesla Model 3 Appearance
Most electric cars have weird exterior designs compared to conventional cars. However, the Model 3 is an exception outdoing most of its peers. According to the chief designer, the car combines aesthetics of the Audi A4, BMW 3 series and Mercedes Benz C class. Although the Model 3 utilizes Tesla Model S technology, it is 20% smaller with a unique design that is appealing to the eyes.
Combustion cars feature a front grill because of the cooling needs to the engine. However, the Model 3 lacks the grill because it is an electric car and does not need cooling. The front design has a minimalist style which looks elegant and sleek. In fact, it looks more prominent and conspicuous than the plastic grill in the Model S. In general, the design will still look beautiful and contemporary in the future and not irrelevant and old.
Driving at night can be challenging especially when the headlights do not produce enough light. Tesla refreshed the headlights of the 2019 Model 3 to include more safety features. After the refresh, the car received an ‘acceptable’ rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).
Another interesting feature of the Model 3 is side mirrors. The mirrors utilize geolocation technology to open and fold automatically. This means that they will open automatically as you walk near the car with your phone or key card in the pocket. On the other hand, the mirrors will automatically fold when you walk away far enough.
The charging port is integrated seamlessly with the taillights making it unnoticeable unless when charging the car. There are several options for opening the charging. For instance, you can use your phone to open and close the port. Also, you can easily tap it to either open or close it. In addition, you can open the port with a switch on the charger and close automatically when the charger is removed.
2019 Tesla Model Interior and comfort
Unlike its competitors, the 2019 Tesla Model 3 has a unique and minimalist interior design due to the lack of physical control switches. Instead, there is a central touch screen that is used to control almost every function of the car. The materials used are of high quality making the car look and feel luxurious. Some of the standard features in the car include two USB ports, Bluetooth, WI-FI hotspot, 15-inch touch screen front and rear parking sensors, glass roof, audio system, and automatic climate control.
The touch screen can be described as both a blessing and a curse. On one hand, it helps to eliminate the physical switches that cramps up the dashboard and the interior design. On the other hand, it can be distracting to adjust the settings while driving. This is because the fonts on the screen are small and can be hard to read for some people. Unlike most cars, the Model 3 does not have gauges such as the speedometer, tachometer etc. All driving-related information is controlled on the screen.
The Model has both rear and front trunk which when combined offer a 15 cubic feet cargo space. Interestingly, the cargo space in the rear trunk can be increased by folding the rear seats. The cargo space in the Model 3 is more than most of its rivals like the Audi A4 or the Mercedes Benz C- Class. It is very easy to load items because the liftover height is low.
Comfortability of a car is mainly by the seats and space. The seats in the Tesla model 3 are incredible, to say the least. First, they are made from quality leather that accentuates with other features in the interior to provide a premium feel. In addition, the seat slopes above the middle stitch to provide better back support. Also, the stitching goes all around the seat making it look sportier. Even though the car looks smaller on the outside, there is a lot of space for both the driver and passengers.
Instead of the cumbersome keys that is common with most cars, the Tesla Model 3 features a flat card that looks like hotel room key card. To unlock the door, you only need to tap on the driver’s door window. Also, you can lock or unlock the door using a phone application. This application can also be used to turn on the headlights, honking, opening the trunk and the charging port and starting the car.
2019 Tesla Model Family comfort
The front seats are very supportive with over twelve different ways of adjustments. In particular, the driving position is a bit low making it feel like a sports car. This also provides the driver with a lot of headroom. Even though the rare seats are comfortable, passengers in the rear seats sit knees-up because of the restricted space due to the battery back on the floor. However, the seats are slightly inclined to provide more headroom. The positioning of the seats makes the car very ideal for a family even when traveling for long distances.
2019 Tesla Model 3 Performance
Although the Tesla Model 3 is an electric car, it provides performance that keeps up with its competitors such as the BMW 3 series. The base model has a range of 220 miles and 0 to 60 mph in 5.6 seconds. On the other hand, the long-range version has a range of 330 miles and 0 to 60 mph in 5.1 seconds.
Model 3 utilizes the latest battery technology to provide the necessary energy to power the car. This battery system is denser than the previous versions and also has a more effective cooling system. The placement of the battery pack on the floor provides the car with a low center of gravity that makes the car more stable on the road.
2019 Tesla Model 3 Price
At the start of 2019, the $7,500 federal tax credit for electric cars was not available for Tesla car buyers. However, the company compensated their customers by reducing the price of the Model 3 to $44,000. Tesla should reduce the price even further to increase demand for the car.
Combustion cars produce million tons of greenhouse gases every day around the world. These gases cause pollution which can be avoided by using electric cars. Tesla has been at the forefront of advocating for electric cars to try and reduce the harm caused greenhouse gases. The Tesla Model 3 has been one of the best performing cars by the company. For instance, since its inception, over 140,000 units have been sold. Due to the improved features and affordable price, more units are expected to be sold in 2019.
